My 18-year-old son has always been a huge Disney fan. From the time he was very young, we would visit Disneyland and Disney California Adventure – we even attended Disney California Adventure on opening day! He was eight at the time and it was a very special moment for both of us. He’s also had the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World twice.
Like many, my son has always dreamed of working for Disney. He has collected pins, books, recordings, and many other Disney items. In 2011, he became an Eagle Scout. One of his most treasured mementos is a letter from Diane Disney Miller, Walt’s daughter, congratulating him on his achievement.
He’s now a college student in Southern California. In 2011, he applied to the Disney College Program for spring 2012, but wasn’t chosen for that particular semester. He applied again, interviewed, and was chosen to participate in the fall 2012 program, which he’ll actually begin in May. He’s quite excited (as are we!), and will be working in attractions. So if you ever see a tall, good-looking young man who’s beaming all the time with a name tag that reads “Alex,” then that’s my son – living his dream by working at the “Happiest Place on Earth”!
