I visited Walt Disney World twice as a kid, and my husband had been there once as well. In September 2001, his parents decided to take the family – my husband (then boyfriend), his brother, and myself – back to Disney World. The unthinkable happened on 9/11, but that didn’t stop us. All flights were grounded, so we called around to find a van that fit all five of us (plus luggage), and made the two-day drive from Massachusetts to Florida.
On our first day at the Magic Kingdom, my husband surprised me by proposing under Cinderella Castle! We had a Cinderella-themed wedding the following year (2002), and spent our honeymoon aboard the Disney Magic for a land-and-sea vacation. We returned to Walt Disney World in September 2004 and April 2006. For our fifth anniversary, my husband and I took a seven-night cruise on the Disney Wonder and had the time of our lives. In June 2009, we took another trip to Walt Disney World for my husband’s birthday, and returned in May 2010 for the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. Now I’m currently counting down the days until our tenth anniversary, which will be spent sailing the Disney Fantasy! Thank you, Walt Disney, for creating something that’s become a wonderful part of my family – and my life!
