The Beginning of a Family Tradition

We love buying and trading Disney pins while we’re at the Disney Parks, and then looking over them at home to relive the memories of our wonderful trips. Pin-trading is one Of the things we miss most when not in the parks, and we have a complete stranger to thank for it all.

On our very first family trip to Walt Disney World, we were standing in line waiting to ride Dumbo. As the queue twisted back and forth, I noticed a lady wearing a lanyard full of pins. I’d read about pin-trading during my planning for the trip, and pointed the lanyard out to my children, then three and six years old. They quietly admired the pins as we passed a few more times. As our turn to ride was approaching, the pin collector got my attention and asked if she could give my children a pin. She said that it was her tradition to give a pin to a child during each of her trips. We gratefully accepted her gift, and a new hobby was born!

We did more buying than trading during that trip, but we’d definitely been bitten by the pin collecting bug! We now travel to the Parks prepared with traders, and love to continue the tradition of spreading the fun of pin-trading by surprising fellow Park Guests with a gift. Spreading the magic is what Disney is all about!
