This past December, my mom surprised me with a trip to Disney World as a “cheer-up” present. I had had a rough year so far in art school, and she knew it’d be the perfect thing to help make it better! We went to see the One Man’s Dream exhibit in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and saw Walt’s amazing work that I’d only ever dreamed of seeing! Then I saw a draft on his desk from “The Three Little Pigs” … and it stopped me. My heart started to swell and I had the goofiest grin on my face and shouted “MOM! Mom! This is just like the work we did at school, this is just like what I do!”
Seeing that one little piece of drafting paper on Walt’s desk gave me hope. It made me realize that an artist can do great things, and every time I paint or draft, I’m reminded that Walt was once where I am now. And if he could create magic, then maybe I can too.
