We Love Mickey and Minnie

Mickey & Minnie

My wife and I have been a fan of Mickey and Minnie Mouse all our lives.

We are now retired and live in Florida. Our family tells everyone that we moved to Florida to be closer to Walt Disney World. My wife has trouble walking sometimes, but when she is in the Magic Kingdom, she is a child again and nothing hurts, except maybe her cheeks from smiling so much. We have been to Walt Disney World over 100 times and always find new things to do.

On our honeymoon we went to the parks and I wore the high hat with the Mickey ears and my wife wore the veil with the Minnie ears. When we got married, we had Mickey and Minnie invitations and brought one along so that Mickey and Minnie would sign it for us. Of course they did, and Mickey motioned for me to propose to my lovely wife. I got down on my knee and took a photo with Mickey standing between the two lovebirds.

I took that photo and sent it to the New York Daily News. Cathy, my wife, was surprised when she got a call from a reporter asking her about the photo. A few days later, an article and that photo were in the Sunday newspaper. Then I sent the article to Walt Disney World and my wife received a “Year of a Million Dreams” Mickey silver ears hat!

A wise man once said: “The best part of growing up is that you don’t have to.” Disney keeps the child alive in us and we treasure our memories and the future times we will spend there.
