Walt Disney Records recently announced The Legacy Collection, a new line of releases that celebrates milestone anniversaries of beloved soundtracks. The first soundtrack to get The Legacy Collection treatment will be The Lion King, releasing as a two-disc set on June 24, 2014.
In addition to the film’s original soundtrack, this special edition will include documentary content that takes you behind the scenes of the film score’s creation, as well as 30 minutes of previously unreleased music, and new liner notes from producer Don Hahn and composer Hans Zimmer.
Each album will also feature newly created artwork from Lorelay Bove, a visual development artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios (Tangled, Winnie the Pooh, Wreck-It Ralph). Above, you’ll see the cover for The Legacy Collection: The Lion King, illustrated by Lorelay. We’ve also been able to get our hands on one of the illustrations that will be included with the album’s liner notes.
