Introducing Citizen Kid

Have you ever met a kid so driven and thoughtful that you can’t believe they’re still just growing up? At Disney, we call these Citizen Kids: ordinary kids who are doing extraordinary things.

Like Walt Disney himself, it’s as if each Citizen Kid was born with their destiny already known to them, and it’s only a matter of time until they make it a reality. But that doesn’t mean any kid should have to do it on their own.

Here’s a preview so you can meet a few of the Citizen Kids we’ve already found:

Disney is encouraging all of our fans and readers to think about the Citizen Kids they know and help us recognize those kids’ achievements. We’ve launched a website at Disney.com/CitizenKid that is dedicated to the effort, where you’ll find stories about Citizen Kids across the country who have been making an impact in their communities and doing incredible things. The whole experience is powered by Milk Life, with the belief that if you start your morning off with the protein in Milk, you’ll have the fuel to accomplish big things. Because of that, Disney is teaming up with Milk to celebrate Citizen Kids around the country. With that in mind, we’ll be donating $50,000 to the Great American Milk Drive, which equates to half a million meals or 13,020 gallons of Milk. We want to make sure that these kids have nutrient rich Milk to start their day so they can pursue their dreams. If you want to learn more about the Great American Milk Drive or Milk Life, you can visit their website.

You can join us by by using #CitizenKid on Twitter, Facebook, and across social media and telling us about a Citizen Kid (or many) you know. While you call out the Citizen Kids in your life, we’ll be doing the same. Over the next month, keep checking back to Disney Insider as we profile exceptional Cast Members across The Walt Disney Company who themselves were once Citizen Kids. With their families and friends at their sides, these Citizen Kids grew up into leaders, innovators, and pioneers, and Disney just wouldn’t be the same without them.
