It seems like Comic-Con just kicked off, and already there is a whole lot of news to get excited about. Pixar got the ball rolling today by unveiling their upcoming Christmas special, Toy Story That Time Forgot. The special is still a ways off–it will air on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET)–but it’s never to early to mark your calendar. During a post-Christmas play date, the Toy Story gang find themselves in uncharted territory when the coolest set of action figures ever turn out to be dangerously delusional. It’s all up to Trixie, the triceratops, if the gang hopes to return to Bonnie’s room in this Toy Story That Time Forgot.
The cast of Toy Story That Time Forgot includes Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Kristen Schaal as Trixie, Kevin McKidd as Reptillus Maximus, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Timothy Dalton as Mr. Pricklepants, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head and Joan Cusack as Jessie. Galyn Susman (Toy Story OF TERROR!) is executive producing, and it’s directed by Steve Purcell (Brave).
For their Comic-Con panel, Pixar brought executive producer Galyn Susman, director Steve Purcell, head of story Derek Thompson, and stars Kevin McKidd and Kristen Schaal together to talk to fans about what we can expect form the special. Fans who made it into the room were rewarded with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at sketches, storyboards, and concept art during the hour-long presentation, moderated by Michael Giacchino (Ratatouille, Up), who composed the score. As a special treat, Pixar had legendary comic creator and artist Mike Mignola create this special edition poster for Toy Story That Time Forgot that was given out to attendees of their panel:
And for a little extra fun, the panel demonstrated #selfie expression at its finest:
