When I was 14, I remember my family went on a Disney Cruise along with my cousins. My cousins and I were trying to get to an area of the ship to meet a character. All of a sudden, we see Ariel running up the stairs. Immediately, all 3 of us scream in joy and rush to get her autograph. I’m the first one who reaches her and as soon as she finished writing her signature, I give her a hug and start crying in her arms. She doesn’t draw back nor get out of character. She comforts me and keeps hugging me. We stay that way for what feels like 10 minutes. After the hug, I look up to see a long line of people standing behind her. I hug her one more time and wait for my cousins to get her autograph. Later on that week, I wait in line to see Cinderella and Ariel again. When we get to Ariel, I hug her and ask if she remembered me from earlier that week. She says yes and hugs me once more. She was a real comfort in a hard time for me.
