Merida Changed My Family’s Fate

In January of 2014 my family went on our traditional vacation to Walt Disney World. On our last day in the parks before our flight home we went to the Magic Kingdom. Now there’s two things to know about this story. First, I had taken recently to drawing Disney characters and I have to admit, they weren’t bad, so I placed them in a homemade autograph book, one for me and one for my best friend. The second thing to know is that my mom has difficulty walking and needs to rely on a wheelchair while in Walt Disney World. As such, she hardly took any pictures with the characters because she wasn’t comfortable having the wheelchair in pictures… until we met Merida. That was one of the best experiences! Merida signed our books but then took my friend’s book, sat down, and flipped through every drawing I had done and commented on every single one of them! There was a line! We were amazed and flabbergasted. The princess went through all the drawings as if my family was the only one there. Then she spoke with my mom. I don’t remember what was said, but Merida was her sassy self and it was enough to get my mom to agree to a picture with her and declare her to be her favorite princess. This was before my mom even saw Brave! She’s seen it since that day and Merida remains her favorite princess. My family and I can’t wait to go back to Walt Disney World and see our favorite Brave lass again!
