The Final Star Wars: The Force Awakens Poster Is Here (And Is Awesome)

Well, the wait is (almost) over: the final poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with an exclusive first look coming during  Monday Night Football on ESPN (during halftime). December 18 is closer than it’s ever been before and we cannot wait.

This new poster does much to capture the spirit of the original, Drew Struzan-illustrated one-sheets; the painterly style remains while being thoroughly contemporary and new. Like everything else we’ve seen from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it does the nearly impossible job of both making us extremely nostalgic for what’s come before and wildly excited about what’s just around the bend. Keep in mind that this is the first time we’ve seen Carrie Fisher’s Leia on anything Star Wars: The Force Awakens-related (but noticeably absent is Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker). We are so, so excited.

J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens, stars series newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow, alongside returning stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker. Fan enthusiasm (including ours) is impossibly high; we can’t wait to see the beginning of a new era of the Star Wars saga.
