If you want great, officially licensed Disney-themed prints, then you should really be paying attention to Cyclops Print Works. They bring together great artists, from both inside and outside of the animation field, and create stunning pieces based on your very favorite Disney movies. And we are so thrilled to be exclusively debuting two of those new prints–today! (All prints will be available on Friday at 12 PM PST at Cyclops’ official website.)
The first is a brand new piece by Eric Tan, a beloved Disney artist and the guy responsible for all of the awesome Star Wars: The Force Awakens packaging you loved last year. Cyclops has been teasing this release since at least last year’s D23 Expo, and it’s finally here. The metallic sheen to the piece gives it an almost otherworldly shimmer and the Japanese lettering is awesome. About the piece, Tan said: “Big Hero 6 took me back to all of the anime shows I would watch as a kid. This print is inspired by those bright, energetic, and action-packed worlds.”

The other new print is by Walt Disney Animation Studios artist Lorelay Bové, whose bold, graphic approach gives this poster for the fictional city of San Fransokyo some real pop. This was actually an image used during the pre-production of the film (back when San Fran Sokyo was three words) but never officially released until now. And it’s a doozy; something you can appreciate for its stark beauty even if you’ve never seen the film.

Also being released on Friday is a brand new print by our good friend Tom Whalen. He’s done some incredible Disney prints in the past (most recently Inside Out) and this is one of his best, for the 1967 classic The Jungle Book. Just in time for the release of the awesome new Jon Favreau film (opening this weekend), this print is overflowing with character, just like the movie. It turns out Whalen hadn’t seen the original film, from start to finish, until he started working on this poster. “As it turns out, that was a blessing. I had to do a bit more research than usual to get a grip on all of the tone and vibe of the movie. In doing so, I learned that Walt Disney placed a premium on character design and movement in this film, elements that I wanted to reflect in my poster.” Mission accomplished, sir.
