Words Are Useless…Unless They Come From Edna Mode

Edna “E” Mode is one quippy force of nature. She can solve some pretty major problems for the Incredibles, things like torn super suits and missing husbands, all with a zinger that is perfectly appropriate. Some of the best from this pint-sized powerhouse that we are continually quoting (in her voice, of course):

“You can’t! It’s impossible! I’m far too busy. So ask me now before I again become sane.”
Edna Mode
What Edna might call her lack of sanity, we call genius.

“This is a hobo suit, darling. You can’t be seen in this. I won’t allow it!”

Edna Mode
Listen to Edna. She’s a fashion maven who has shows in Milan. That’s called credibility.

“I never look back, darling. It distracts from the now.”
Edna Mode
Oh, Edna. You are so wise.

“You come in one hour, darling. I insist, okay? Okay. Goodbye.”
Helen Parr answering phone
We can only assume that Helen showed up within an hour. Why? Because it’s Edna. And you just don’t ignore Edna. It’s unfathomable.

“It will be bold. Dramatic! Heroic!”
Edna Mode
Go bold or go home. That’s what we’ve learned here.

“Simple, elegant, yet bold. You will die.”
Edna Mode with Helen Parr
See bold comment above.

“No capes!”
Edna Mode
There’s really not much to argue with on this one. Edna wouldn’t listen to you even if you tried.

“Yes, words are useless. Gobble, gobble, gobble.”
Edna gobble gobble gobble
There’s too much talking. Edna prefers showing her work. Speaking of which…

“Luck favors the prepared.”
Edna Mode
At least it breathes like Egyptian cotton.

“Pull yourself together! What will you do? Is this a question?”
Edna Mode
No, it’s not a question. We’re sure Helen had a momentary lapse in clear thinking because of Edna’s perfect kitchen with a trash can that immediately burns the evidence of Elastigirl’s tears. Edna doesn’t care much for tears.

“Go! Confront the problem! Fight! Win!”
Edna Mode
Pep talk of the year right there.

“And call me when you get back, darling. I enjoy our visits.”
Edna Mode
So do we, Edna. So do we.
