Those a-ha moments are typically important ones, especially in Disney films. They can be plot-turning, heartwarming, bittersweet, shocking or simply make us scream, “Finally! He gets it!” It’s always fun to point out when a character realizes his own strength or destiny (even if we’ve known it all along), so here are some of our favorite Disney a-ha moments:
When Rapunzel discovers what the sun actually means.
That means she’s the lost princess.
When the Sultan realizes he is sultan.
It’s a pretty crucial when the sultan recognizes that he can change the law. It gives the term “son-in-law” a very literal meaning here.
When the Captain realizes he can turn the ship around.
“I don’t want to survive. I want to live!” A rather powerful moment when the Captain realizes the difference.
When Simba remembers his true identity.
Pretty essential. Cue the return to Pride Rock and one of the most epic and determined runs through the desert:
When Jack embraces being the pumpkin king.
Sometimes it takes a good a-ha moment to feel like your old bony self again.
When Buzz realizes he isn’t the only space ranger.
A somewhat sad realization, yes, but a necessary one. It’s only after this moment (and the whole Mrs. Nesbitt thing, of course) that Buzz is truly able to befriend Andy’s toys. And it’s always nice to know you have a friend in Buzz.
When Dumbo figures out that it wasn’t the feather after all.
It was his heart all along.
When Phil realizes who he’s really dealing with.
Some epiphanies feel like being hit by lightning what with the intense jolt of realization. And then there’s the literal experience, as demonstrated by Phil.
When Elsa finds out what it takes to thaw a frozen heart.
