Disney is great at a lot of things: nostalgia, adventure, churros; we could go on. But Disney is especially great at inspiring us to go after our dreams. What is a dream? Well, as we all know, it’s a wish your heart makes. For us dreams aren’t just the stuff of nighttime sigh-sessions in which we gaze out of our windows longingly, they’re also important goals that we strive to make come true. Here are some things we keep in mind every day, while on our trains to dream-come-true-ville. It’s a real place. We swear.
“If you keep on believing, the dreams that you wish will come true.”
Cinderella had it right. Never stop believing. That’s one of the main things we always take away from Disney movies. Giving up isn’t an option.
“They say if you dream a thing more than once, it’s sure to come true.”
We are both glad and slightly scared about this one. We still have recurring dreams that we failed High School French and didn’t graduate. So we’re gonna go ahead and say that this only applies to the good dreams. The really special ones.
“I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell.”
Sometimes you have a glimmer of a dream without even recognizing it as one. Maybe the dream is as simple as finding somewhere you belong, or finding something that gives you purpose. Whatever the case may be, your dream is worth pursing.
“For the first time in forever, I’m getting what I’m dreaming of. A chance to change my lonely world, a chance to find true love.”
Dreaming can be as simple as allowing yourself to hope. Once you do that, anything is possible.
“I’ve been looking out a window for eighteen years dreaming of what it might feel like when those lanterns rise in the sky.”
There’s no limit to the amount of dreams you can pursue. Already made one dream come true? Then find a new one.
“I have often dreamed of a far off place, where a great, warm welcome will be waiting for me.”
Hercules’ dream isn’t for diamonds or a mansion, it’s simply to find where he belongs (everyone else now has that song stuck in their head too, right?). Dreams don’t have to seem unattainable to be worthwhile.
“Just because I cannot see it doesn’t mean I can’t believe it!”
This is a great reminder from the Pumpkin King that your dream can live in your heart for as long as it needs too. Don’t give up on it, even if takes a while to come true.
“But dreams do come true. And maybe something wonderful will happen.”
We feel like while Giselle isn’t an expert at navigating New York, she’s a pro when it comes to dreaming big. If you don’t allow yourself to have the dream in the first place, how can the dream come true in the end?
