We wouldn’t be anywhere without our friends. They help us when we need it, cheer us up when we’re down, and make every day an adventure. Where did we learn all we know about being a good friend? From Disney movies, of course. We’ve gathered just a few of our favorite thoughts on friendship here. Read the below with your BBF, and maybe a plate of milk and cookies. Who doesn’t love cookies? And friendship. We digress…
“No matter what happens, you’ll always be a prince to me.” – Aladdin
We’re already emotional and this is only the first quote. Genie shows Aladdin that true friends don’t care if you’re rich or poor, a prince or a street rat. They love you for you.
♫ I wouldn’t have nothin’ if I didn’t have you. ♫ – Monsters, Inc.
Mike and Sulley make a perfect team. Their differences compliment each other and make each of them better people (and scarers). They know that without each other, something big would be missing from their lives.
“When did my friends become more complicated than my math homework?” – Lizzie McGuire
We feel you, Lizzie. Sometimes friendships aren’t easy. People change, move away, meet a life partner, etc. But there’s always a way to work things out, if your friendships are strong enough (and with lots of communication) (and cookies) (see above).
“Good friends will help you until you’re unstuck.” – The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Too true, too true. WTP (like NPH but cuddlier) really nails it with this observation. Though he’s quite literally talking about getting unstuck, we’re metaphorically talking about how friends can help us talk through problems. They help us see things from a different angle.
♫ She’ll be more beautiful than all, in the lovely dress we’ll make for Cinderelly. ♫ – Cinderella
OMG with these mice. They’re such good friends to Cinderella that they somehow find a way to make her a human-sized dress. And it’s actually pretty. Their lives maybe aren’t the best either, but they push their own problems aside when they see that their friend is in need.
“I’ll miss you when I wake up.” – Alice in Wonderland
Whoo boy. We won’t cry. We won’t cry. When Alice admits to the Mad Hatter that she’ll miss him, our hearts break. They’ve been inseparable since she came to Underland. The best of friends. But what we take away from this is that our friends are always with us. Even if we have to be apart for a while.
“Some people are worth melting for.” – Frozen
Darn it, Olaf. With the fees! Again, friends are really wonderful and necessary and we’d do anything for ours. Maybe not melt. But only because we’re not really capable of melting. But certainly turn to ice to save them from a dastardly prince.
♫ When you’re the best of friends having so much fun together, you’re not even aware you’re such a funny pair. ♫ – The Fox and the Hound
Todd and Copper shouldn’t be friends. Their very species are opposed. Everything they’ve learned tells them that their being close is forbidden. And yet, they’re kindred spirits. It doesn’t matter if your friends are different than you. Maybe it’s even better if they are. Either way, as long as they get you and you get them, fox or hound, cat or mouse, a friend is a friend.
“Aw shucks, Pluto. I can’t be mad at ya!” – Mickey Mouse
The boss (M. Mouse) is illustrating an important point: staying mad at friends isn’t worth it. Life’s too short. So make amends.
“We’re a family, we stick together.” – Toy Story 3
Aaaand we’ve lost it. Friends can be family. So treat them that way.
