The Definitive Ranking of 17 Pixar Bad Guys

We’re kicking off the month of spooks and scares by ranking the best of the worst in the Pixar world. Sure, we all love Andy and his heart of gold, yet we can’t help but have a certain appreciation for Sid. Here’s our ranking of 17 Pixar bad guys, from so-bad-they’re-good to so-bad-they’re-great.

17. Dr. Sherman in Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo, Dr. Sherman
Although Dr. Sherman is the reason why Marlin had to go on an ocean-wide adventure to find Nemo in the first place, he is a dentist. And we can respect that. No. 17 for you, Dr. Sherman.

16. Emperor Zurg in Toy Story
Toy Story, Zurg
Zurg’s got a lot going for him when it comes to badness, i.e. high black collar, red eyes, horns, being labeled the “Sworn Enemy of the Galactic Alliance” or whatever. As we find out in Toy Story 2, it turns out he’s a bit of a softie at heart and makes a pretty great dad.

15. Roar Omega Roar in Monsters University
Monsters University, Roar Omega Roar
The fact that this frat is full of monsters is frightening enough. The fact that they’re the mean kind of monsters makes them even scarier.

14. Chick Hicks in Cars
Cars, Chick Hicks
Can’t trust a car with a ‘stache like that, and Chick Hicks is no exception. He’s on a mission to win, no matter who gets in his way. He sideswipes The King and wins the Piston Cup but loses his fans’ respect. That’s no way to go about racing. Or life.

13. Stinky Pete in Toy Story 2
Toy Story 2, Stinky Pete
This oldie is definitely not a goodie. Despite his initial grandfatherly demeanor, Stinky Pete turns out to live up to his name—Stinky (and Jealous and Afraid of Flash Photography) Pete.

12. Al from Toy Story 2
Toy Story 2, Al
Al ruffles just about everyone’s feathers, making him No. 11 on the list. Toys are for playtime, not for sleezy guys dressed in chicken suits.

11. Professor Z from Cars 2
Cars 2, Professor Z
For reasons of monocle. And plotting to sabotage the World Grand Prix by “eliminating” all obstacles.

10. Charles Muntz in Up
Up, Charles Muntz
Despite being Carl’s idol for a good chunk of the movie, Charles Muntz is a pretty bad apple. (With eyebrows like that, he’s gotta be.)

9. Syndrome in The Incredibles
The Incredibles, Syndrome
Syndrome is awesome at being a villain and even more awesome at having great hair. His gravity-defying locks and memorable backstory rank him at No. 9.

8. Chef Skinner in Ratatouille
Ratatouille, Chef Skinner
Don’t judge a bad guy by his size. Chef Skinner may be comically small, but his viciousness has no bounds. Plus, can’t trust a guy with a ‘stache like his (See No. 14).

7. Randall in Monsters, Inc.
Monsters Inc., Randall
Randall hasn’t been malicious all that long (See No. 15), but since his younger, more awkward days, he certainly changed his colors (literallyyyyyy!). His buggy eyes, scales, and pointy teeth are just the icing on the scare cake.

6. AUTO in WALL•E
WALL-E, AUTO
This autopilot oughta stop being a control freak. Thank goodness for mankind, hope, environmentalism, and all that jazz because this red-eyed monster was really starting to rain on everyone’s parades.

5. Darla in Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo, Darla
RIP, Chuckles.

4. Mor’du in Brave
Brave, Mor'du
Can’t type. Paralyzed in fear.

3. Lotso in Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3, Lotso
Don’t let his strawberry scent deceive. This bear is bad news. Our faith in teddies has forever been tainted thanks to this conniving cuddler.

2. Hopper in A Bug’s Life
A Bug's Life, Hopper
While Pixar did an amazing job making bugs lovable, they did an even more impressive job making us hate grasshoppers more than we normally would. Hopper is ranked high on the bad guy list by virtue of being pretty sick-looking. He’s also selfish, cruel, and real aggressive.

1. Sid in Toy Story
Toy Story, Sid
Sid is the original Pixar bad guy and is still the best at being the worst. His bedroom is what nightmares are made of, and his obsession with blowing stuff up is a little concerning. From his skull shirts to his experimental toys, this kid redefines “playtime” in the scariest of ways.
