For those of us who grew up with Lizzie McGuire, her adventure on the big screen was a big deal. The Lizzie McGuire Movie saw one of our favorite Disney Channel stars (Hilary Duff) seize the day and become a global superstar, all on one exciting trip to Rome. She found love, gained confidence, and most importantly, learned a ton of essential life lessons we still take to heart. So, in celebration of the film’s 13th anniversary, we’ve compiled a list of some important things we learned from watching it. Enjoy!
1. Be prepared for anything.
You never know when you’ll be asked to give a speech because the class president is out sick with a cold (or something), or when you’ll be put on stage because you happen to have a doppelgänger who’s also an Italian pop sensation (no big deal).
2. You won’t always be stuck with the ideal roommate.
Whether it’s in college, a class trip, or life in general, you won’t always get to share a room with somebody you like. But, if you give them a chance, they might surprise you.
3. Trust your best friend’s instincts.
When your best friend warns you about something (or someone), sometimes it’s best to trust them, because they might be right. Plus, they always have your best interests at heart.
4. Being an outfit-repeater isn’t the worst thing in the world.
If somebody calls you out for being a so-called “outfit-repeater,” don’t sweat it. At least you’re not an “outfit-rememberer.”
5. Seize the day.
When in Rome (or your hometown), sometimes you just have to grab life by the horns and go on an exciting adventure. You’ll never know what’s waiting for you around the corner, unless you take a crazy chance.
6. Confidence is key.
Wherever you go in life (whether it’s an unexpected red carpet, or the grocery store down the street), if you put on a big smile and exude confidence, you’ll be unstoppable!
