Becky from Finding Dory is one of our favorite characters of all time. She is adorable, yet always stands her ground. She does what she wants, yet she often helps others in need. She is stylish, but she’s not trying to be. She walks the fine line of not caring too much about what others think, yet caring just enough to achieve her goals. She is a role model for us all. And we want to be just like her. Here’s why:
1. Becky is one of a kind.
Have you ever seen a bird with red eyes quite as glorious as Becky’s? We think not. In fact, we haven’t ever seen any bird like her at all. Her ruffled feathers are super cool and on-trend, yet completely effortless. She is like that friend that can wear anything and still look perfectly put together. The best part? She probably doesn’t even know how cool she looks because she doesn’t think about that kind of stuff.
2. Becky doesn’t make apologies.
She doesn’t make apologies because she makes choices and she sticks to them. She has no regrets because she never looks back. She moves forward and continues to become a better Becky every day.
3. Becky knows what she likes.
Becky loves popcorn. Or maybe it’s popcorn buckets. Or maybe it’s both. Either way, she knows what she wants and she goes for it. She will wear a popcorn bucket on her head any day of the week and not pay any mind to what everyone else thinks about it.
4. Becky requires direct eye contact for communication.
As we mentioned before, Becky has red eyes. Red eyes! When you want something from Becky, you can’t just idly ask her. You need to look her right in the eye and tell her. Why? Because Becky demands respect.
5. Becky makes friends easily.
Some sea creatures may feel unsure of Becky at first, because her confidence and unwavering stare can be intimidating. But very quickly they will realize that Becky is a great person to have on their side. Especially when they need transportation in a green bucket.
6. Becky is a rebel.
Becky does not worry about what everyone else is doing. In fact, we don’t think Becky worries at all. She is present in the current moment. Becky just is. Becky is Becky.
7. Becky always triumphs in the end.
Becky pretty much saves everyone in Finding Dory. Her confidence and unflappable sense of self is what helps her effortlessly achieve her goals.
Thank you, Becky, for being you and for teaching us that being ourselves is the most important thing we can be. You are a gem, a hero, and one magnificent creature.
