Disney sports movies are filled with important life lessons that are applicable to anyone. One can learn teamwork, morals, sportsmanship, and plenty of other lessons from these movies. Or, if you’re not a sports fan, you can learn … other things. We recruited our in-house sports fan and non-sports fan to explain some of our favorite Disney sports movies in their own unique ways.

The Mighty Ducks
Sports Fan: Never count out the underdog, whether that be the team or their coach.
Non-Sports Fan: Teamwork makes the dream work! And virtually any Disney movie can be turned into an excellent animated series.

Air Bud
Sports Fan: Don’t count others out, even if they aren’t the same species as you.
Non-Sports Fan: I want a dog now. Basketball playing skills not required.

McFarland, USA
Sports Fan: Approach adversity with a steady pace—one foot in front of the other.
Non-Sports Fan: Running looks really hard … but if Kevin Costner were my coach, I’m sure I could run at least one mile.

Million Dollar Arm
Sports Fan: Even if people think your idea may be crazy, work hard and the results will shine!
Non-Sports Fan: I never thought about paying a million dollars for Jon Hamm’s arms until this movie. That price is kind of a bargain.

Angels in the Outfield
Sports Fan: If you believe in yourself and your abilities, you can accomplish anything. Also, family is what you make of it.
Non-Sports Fan: Is that kid Joseph Gordon-Levitt? I think that kid is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This is going to bug me forever.

Remember the Titans
Sports Fan: See through your differences and discover your similarities. Success will shine through and bring you together. Ain’t no mountain high enough!
Non-Sports Fan: Remember the Titans, remember who you are … how many things am I supposed to remember?! One thing I’ll never forget: Ryan Gosling is in this movie.

Cool Runnings
Sports Fan: If people try to put down your dreams, just keep working hard and believing. One day, they will be applauding while you reach the finish line.
Non-Sports Fan: Two things: Sledding is fun, and “Sanka, you dead man?” is officially my new catchphrase.

The Rookie
Sports Fan: You are never too old to achieve your dreams. Also, don’t make life altering bets with your team if you aren’t prepared for the consequences.
Non-Sports Fan: I feel like I should say something insightful like, “The real rookie was there all along,” but all I can think is Dennis Quaid is the ultimate #dadgoals in this.

Johnny Tsunami
Sports Fan: No matter what side of the mountain you are on, your differences aren’t as big as you think.
Non-Sports Fan: Life is the ultimate fresh powder, brah.
