The Perfect Disney Movie Marathon for the Holidays

One of the best things about the winter and holiday season is curling up on your couch with some hot chocolate and lots of snacks (kettle corn, cookies, gingerbread, literally all the holiday food we can think of) and settling in for a long winter’s Disney movie marathon. We’ve given this a lot of thought and carefully crafted what we think is a pretty amazing group of movies that are sure to get you into the holiday spirit! So, grab your eggnog, get those Mickey-shaped sweet treats ready, and prepare for some Disney winter magic:

1. The Santa Clause

The Santa Clause

One has to start off a holiday movie marathon strong, and The Santa Clause will do just that. We watched this movie on repeat as kids. It has the perfect combination of hilarious and warm holiday moments that remind us what family is all about. Also, did anyone else have a crush on the head elf, Bernard? No? Just us? Anyway, Bernard is so cool and Tim Allen as Santa Claus is perfection.

2. The Nightmare Before Christmas

Obviously. This is one of the best movies ever, and is the perfect transition movie if you’re still dreaming about Halloween or Thanksgiving. Plus, singing along to “What’s This?” is one of our favorite holiday pastimes.

3. Mickey’s Christmas Carol

The oldest movie on our list, and thus a classic, you can’t go wrong with a retelling of the Christmas Carol story with Mickey and Friends. It wouldn’t be the holidays without a visit from Scrooge McDuck!

4. Frozen

If you’re like us, you’ve seen Frozen more times than you can count, but there’s always room for more. Especially because of the snow, magic, and delightfully wintery characters like Sven, Olaf, and Marshmallow. Plus, Olaf’s quote, “Some people are worth melting for,” is a perfect motto for the holidays.

5. Toy Story That Time Forgot

This is a short film, but it packs a lot of heartwarming moments as the toys we know and love have a holiday adventure with Bonnie. There are a few new characters introduced in this story, including Angel Kitty, who is the single most adorable ornament you’ll see all winter. She has a tiny trumpet and says adorable and wise things. You’re welcome.

6. The Muppet Christmas Carol

You saw Mickey’s Christmas Carol earlier, so it’s a must that The Muppet Christmas Carol gets a viewing as well. Robin (Kermit’s nephew) as Tiny Tim is another adorable holiday character that will melt your heart. With appearances by all of your favorite Muppets, and some seriously amazing winter wardrobes, you’ll be inspired to bundle up, head out into the cold weather, and spend time with family and friends.

7. Beauty and the Beast

This classic animated tale isn’t technically a holiday movie, but there is that adorable scene in the snow with Beast and Belle that totally gets us into the holiday spirit. Also, this is one of the greatest movies of all time at any point in the year, and is the perfect end to a delightful holiday marathon.
