Sometimes the smallest actions can make the biggest difference, especially in Disney movies. One heroic act, kind gesture, or moment of truth can determine whether there will be a happily ever after ending. Which makes us think: What if? What if one of those moments that led our Disney heroes and heroines to victory didn’t happen? What if things took a different course? Would they still find their happily ever after? Even though we love the way our favorite Disney movies ended, we dreamed up a few scenarios that might just have happened if things had been a little different:
1. The Little Mermaid
Alternate Ending: If Eric had kissed the girl in the first place.
Even though we’ve seen it hundreds of times, we get so upset every time Ursula’s eels ruin the moment where Ariel and Eric are just about to kiss. It was about to be the most romantic, perfect moment, but Flotsam and Jetsam had to tip that boat over. Ugh! But what if the eels hadn’t gotten there in time and Ariel and Eric did kiss? Ursula’s curse would have been broken, and all would have been well. Until Ursula found some other way to get what she wanted, in which case we have no doubt Ariel and Eric would have still defeated her!
2. The Lion King
Alternate Ending: If Sarabi had defeated Scar before Simba got there.
We love when Simba defeats Scar and takes his place on Pride Rock, but if he had waited a little longer to come back to the Pride Lands, we have no doubt that Sarabi would have handled business eventually. Sarabi was probably just biding her time until she could take Scar by surprise like the Queen that she is.
3. Mulan
Alternate Ending: If Mulan had joined the Emperor’s council.
Remember when the Emperor offered Mulan a job? She decided to return home right away instead, but what if she had stayed? We could totally see Mulan and Shang being a power couple in the Emperor’s palace.
4. Hercules
Alternate Ending: If Hercules decided to stay in Olympus.
Hercules decided to stay mortal in order to be with Meg, but what if he was allowed to stay in both places? We can totally see him and Meg splitting their time between Mt. Olympus and the mortal world. Talk about an amazing vacation home!
5. Aladdin
Alternate Ending: If Jasmine got to Genie’s lamp before Jafar trapped her in the hourglass.
Just before Jafar conjured an hourglass filled with sand and locks Jasmine inside, Jasmine reached Genie’s lamp. What if Jasmine had time to take control of the lamp? We can bet that her first wish would have something to do with locking Jafar up. Of course, she totally would have set Genie free next!
6. The Princess and the Frog
Alternate Ending: Charlotte and Travis also end up together.
When we last see Charlotte, she is dancing with Prince Naveen’s younger brother, but what if Travis asked her to dance? We think he might have better luck winning Charlotte over if he wasn’t wearing a jester costume like in the beginning of the movie.
7. Tangled
Alternate Ending: If the Pub Thugs joined the royal guard.
At the end of the movie, Maximus is in charge of protecting the kingdom, and it would totally make sense if he hired the Pub Thugs, who have proven their abilities and know a thing or two about crime. We can only imagine the shenanigans that would occur as the Pub Thugs tried to adjust to life in the royal spotlight.
