Jonathan Taylor Thomas Appreciation Post

If a significant part of your childhood was spent in the ’90s, then you know exactly who we’re referring to when we use the acronym JTT—Jonathan Taylor Thomas. In fact, you’re probably smiling now that we’ve mentioned him, which means it’s time to stop whatever you’re doing and take a moment to appreciate JTT.

First and foremost, let’s acknowledge the casting of JTT as young Simba in The Lion King.

Can you imagine anyone else playing your first animated animal crush? No, of course you can’t, because JTT helped make Simba the charismatic Disney character we all know and love.

As a bonafide A-lister in the ’90s, JTT starred in a slew of our favorite Disney movies of the decade, including Tom and Huck, Man of the House, and I’ll Be Home for Christmas.

Here he is as Tom Sawyer. Look at his eyes—he’s giving us so much with just one glance.

Now let’s take a moment to focus on this promotional photo from I’ll Be Home for Christmas and give it the respect it truly deserves:

And while we’re at it, here’s a photo of JTT holding a puppy:

Honestly, this image should be on U.S. currency.

In addition to his film roles, we also loved JTT when he graced our TVs every week as wisecracking middle son Randy Taylor on Home Improvement for 8 seasons.

And while we’re on the subject of Home Improvement, can we please talk about JTT’s relationship with his TV dad, Tim Allen? There’s something so endearing knowing that JTT’s last acting gig was a guest spot on Tim Allen’s current ABC show Last Man Standing, which he also directed a few times.

Sure, we still secretly ache over JTT’s decision to leave Hollywood at the height of his career. But as true JTT fans, all we’ve ever wanted was for JTT to be happy, and if that means supporting JTT, the normal guy who gave up his stardom for a higher learning degree from Columbia University, then so be it.

Maybe it’s fitting that our favorite teen idol is no longer in the spotlight, so that we can forever remember him as ’90s dreamboat, Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
