Disney Holidays Unwrapped came out today and to celebrate, we got the scoop from some of the stars on what they love about the holidays.
What is your favorite thing about the holiday season?
R5: Getting together with all of our family and having some time off! Also, going back to Colorado.
Bella Thorne: I love the time off to be with my family and friends and eat all my favorite food.
Olivia Holt: I love being able to mellow down and spend time with family. It’s also the perfect opportunity to give back and anything I can do to give back, I’m more than happy to be a part of.
Sabrina Carpenter: I love food. I also love baking, sitting by the fire, and playing in the snow with friends and family.
Coco Jones: My favorite part of the holidays is spending time with my family. I spend so much time traveling during the year for different performances and events, so I always look forward to the holidays to spend quality time with them.
Caroline Sunshine: My favorite thing about the holiday season is the lights! I love walking around with family, friends, and a cup of peppermint hot chocolate to look at all the beautiful lights and decorations.
Laura Marano: I love how involved everyone gets when it comes to celebrating. Whether it is decorating or baking delicious treats, everyone comes together to celebrate, which is super cool!
Debby Ryan: Choosing one is so hard, but I would definitely have to say family time, baking, and all things cinnamon.
Zendaya: I love spending time with my family, that’s the most important part of the holidays to me.
What are your top three holiday songs?
R5: Santa Claus is Coming to Town – Bruce Springsteen, Shake it Up – Train, Someday at Christmas – Stevie Wonder
Bella Thorne: Jingle Bells, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Olivia Holt: Shake Up Christmas – Train, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Winter Wonderland
Sabrina Carpenter: The Christmas Song, Home for the Holidays, Where are you Christmas? (from How the Grinch Stole Christmas)
Coco Jones: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, This Christmas, and my Christmas song, Christmas Night
Caroline Sunshine: All I want for Christmas Is You, Last Christmas, Baby, It’s Cold Outside
Laura Marano: All I Want for Christmas is You, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Baby, It’s Cold Outside
Debby Ryan: Santa Baby, Little Drummer Boy, Last Christmas
Zendaya: This Christmas – Donnie Hathaway (I am performing that song this holiday season on tour!), Christmas Eve by Justin Bieber (don’t judge me!), The Christmas Song – Nat King Cole (because my dad and I sang that together for a concert when I was 8 years old!)
Do you have any special holiday traditions?
R5: Our favorite family tradition is to go up into the mountains of Colorado and play ice hockey all day long, for several days.
Bella Thorne: We go as a family to feed the homeless and pass out presents.
Olivia Holt: My family and I love decorating around the house—there’s also a lot of baking happening too. Every year we try to cook something new and exciting!
Sabrina Carpenter: Every Christmas Eve we find that the “elves” have brought us a new pair of pajamas and I always eat chocolate for breakfast on Christmas morning, because why not, right?
Coco Jones: A holiday tradition that’s very special to me is decorating! My dad goes crazy during the holiday season—even our doorbell has a Christmas tone! I think the greatest tradition has to be that each year, we all pick one ornament that signifies what happened to us that year. It’s really cool to look at old ornaments and think about what was going on in our lives during that time.
Caroline Sunshine: Our family’s special holiday tradition is going over to my grandparent’s house on Christmas morning. My grandma cooks a big breakfast, and I love hearing her tell old funny stories.
Laura Marano: My sister, mom, and I bake on Christmas Eve, while my dad makes this amazing seafood pasta feast. After we eat, we watch Love Actually!
Debby Ryan: For the Christmas season each person makes a special dish. My personal signature is cran-apple crisp. It can be a great side dish to turkey or eaten as a dessert topped with lots and lots of ice cream! Then, everyone gets to open one gift on Christmas Eve and soon after, we all pile into the car with our dessert and hot cocoa to look at Christmas lights!
Zendaya: We always get together as a family and give out the gifts to the little ones. My mom and I make homemade candy each and every year and to give away. My mom always emphasized giving during the holidays, not receiving, so we really love to give homemade gifts like candy.
