Disney songs accompany our favorite characters through the best of times and the worst. They bring out the most extreme of emotions, leaving us in tears one moment and laughing the next. From enchanting melodies to epic orchestral compositions, these songs brings out a lot of intense feels. While we can’t claim this to be a full list by any means, we combed through the Disney film library to rank the ten “feeliest” songs. So put on this playlist, and let’s get started.
10. Part of Your World – The Little Mermaid
What can we even say? Yes, Ariel. We completely understand. We do want to be somewhere new, somewhere that we’ve only ever dreamed about. This song really hit us in the heart.
9. Married Life – Up
And cue the tears. This music does such a great job at both beautifully underscoring the Carl and Ellie opening sequence of Up, and sneaking up on us when we are not prepared, and then just completely ruining us emotionally.
8. When She Loved Me – Toy Story 2
Undoubtedly one of the most “tug at the heartstrings” songs we’ve ever heard. If you say you can make it through the whole song without shedding a tear, you’re lying and we will sit down and watch this scene with you while yelling, “THE FEELS!” just to prove it.
7. Paperman
Paperman is basically six minutes of feels. George finds the girl of his dreams, but he doesn’t even know her! This music really added to the drama–will the paper airplane make it across the street!? Will George and Meg ever meet? The score takes us along on a pretty magical (and emotional) ride.
6. Do You Want to Build a Snowman? – Frozen
Unless you’ve been under a rock for the past several months, (and, if so, welcome back) we don’t need to tell you how incredible this song is. Just thinking about, our hearts are pretty much breaking.
5. This Land – The Lion King
We like to sum the song up in one word: GLORIOUS. Absolutely glorious.
4. Nemo Egg – Finding Nemo
A truly beautiful song that is short, yet hopeful. We are pretty much crying onto our keyboard right now. Why did we think this article was a good idea? The feels have started coming out and we can’t turn them off!
3. I See The Light – Tangled
Cue goosebumps. Flynn and Rapunzel are both realizing dreams, and discovering new hopes simultaneously. It’s pretty much the perfect moment. We want to go to this moment.
2. Feed the Birds – Mary Poppins
Story time: This was one of Walt Disney’s favorite songs, he was said to have frequently called the Sherman Brothers to his office to play the song as he stared out his window overlooking the Walt Disney Studios. Enough said.
1. When You Wish Upon a Star – Pinocchio
When You Wish Upon a Star is really what Disney is all about. Dreams, wishing, and believing in the power of optimism — these are all things we can get behind. And then cry about. We warned you, we can’t turn off the feels.
