Broadway lovers, rejoice! We just found out that ABC will air a special called “Backstage with Disney on Broadway: Celebrating 20 Years” on Dec. 14 at 7pm ET, and it will be hosted by none other than Modern Family’s Jessie Tyler Ferguson. Sign us up!
The one-hour special will take us through the creation of the eight Disney Broadway musicals: Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, AIDA, Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Newsies, and Aladdin. It will feature new commentary from stars and theatre pros, backstage and rehearsal footage, and a look into the Newsies cast preparing for opening night of their North American tour.
As if that wasn’t enough, we will also get to see musical performances from Sam Palladio and Clare Bowen (Nashville), Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins), Adam Jacobs (Aladdin), and SIR ELTON JOHN. That’s right — we buried that lead. Surprise!
