It’s time for you to get to know one of my favorite artists of the moment, Tori Kelly! She is beautiful, talented, sweet, and her song “Should’ve Been Us” is in the Radio Disney Top 30 right now. I saw her perform at the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards and was blown away by her powerhouse voice and amazing stage presence. Her debut album “Unbreakable Smile” is out next week, and I can’t wait to hear what you guys think of her new songs. 1. Tori is 22 years old.
2. She got her start by covering songs and uploading them to YouTube. She also auditioned for Season 9 of American Idol.
3. Tori’s cover of Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin’ Bout You,” went viral, racking up over 22 million views.
4. She wrote, produced, mixed, and released her first EP, “Handmade Songs By Tori Kelly,” all by herself.
5. Her favorite song to sing at karaoke is “Vision of Love” by Mariah Carey.
6. She worked with Ed Sheeran and renowned pop producer Max Martin—known for his work with Katy Perry, Ellie Goulding, and Taylor Swift—on her first album.
7. Tori is about to embark on the Where I Belong Tour, and will perform in the U.S. and internationally.
8. Tori’s parents are also musicians. Her dad is a singer and bassist and her mom plays piano and saxophone.
9. After a long day on set, she appreciates a good slice of pizza.
10. Her debut album “Unbreakable Smile” is available to stream on iTunes now and is officially available on June 23.
