Celebrate National Cat Day with Charles Perry’s Cover of “Ev’rybody Wants to Be a Cat”

It’s National Cat Day, so naturally we’ve been thinking of The Aristocats and all the fun songs from the film. While both cat fans and dog fans are represented in the Oh My Disney office, in honor of this esteemed day we’re going to go out on a limb and say that the song “Ev’rybody Wants to Be a Cat” is aptly titled: Everybody does want to be a cat, because a cat’s the only cat who knows where it’s at. R&B singer Charles Perry chose this song to cover for the We Love Disney compilation album, which comes out tomorrow, October 30. He put a fun, funky spin on the Sherman Brothers’ classic, and was tapped by Verve Music Group chairman David Foster himself to take on the project.

“Charles has the depth and sensuality of Marvin Gaye mixed with the theatrics of Freddie Mercury,” Foster told Billboard. Listen to the song and pick up on that feline beat for yourself:
