Disney Cures for the Common Cold

This year’s cold/flu season is dragging on like one of Jafar’s really long speeches. We don’t know about you, but we’ve found lots of interesting (if not entirely helpful) cold remedies in Disney classics. Grab a blanket and a hot beverage, and get ready for some unsolicited non-advice.

1. “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.”
Indeed it does, Mary. Indeed it does. We have nothing more to add to this one. Sugar + Mary Poppins = happiness. Sure, you’ll still have a cold, but you’ll also have a sugar high. A fair trade in our book.

2. Baloo would implore you to “forget about your worries and your strife.”
This bear, a visionary before his time, is clearly touting the effects of a stress-free lifestyle. So let it all roll off your back and you’ll be feeling much better in no time.

3. Why not go for a drive like Mr. Toad?
Taking a leisurely spin, with the top down in your convertible, might prove just the thing to boost that immune system. What could possibly go wrong?

4. That old adage from Finding Nemo may come in handy if you’ve got a stomach bug.
“Fish are friends. Not food.”

5. Sometimes a spot of tea might be just what the doctor (or talking teapot) ordered.

(Chipped tea cup optional, but highly recommended.)

6. Take a little something to help, doctor-approved of course.
“Better read it first, for if one drinks much from a bottle marked poison, it’s almost certain to disagree with one sooner or later.” Wise words, Alice.

7. Make sure to get up and move around every so often. You’ll thank us later.
“Oy! Ten thousand years will give you such a crick in the neck!”

8. If you’ve been out in public, remember to get decontaminated.
Worse than being sick? Being on Roz’s bad side. Trust us.

9. Just relax, take a deep breath, and watch a movie. Don’t try to do anything too strenuous.
“Something feels funny, I must be thinking too hard.” – Winnie the Pooh

10. And finally, if at all possible, employ a dog to take care of you.
Because, why not?

We hope these tips will have you feeling better in no time! If not, start at the top and repeat until all symptoms have disappeared.
