Things We Learned From the Brave Little Tailor

Mickey Mouse is a veritable wealth of lessons. We were recently re-watching the Brave Little Tailor short and thinking to ourselves… everything we need to know in life can actually be traced back to a lesson learned while watching Mickey defeat a giant. (Oops, spoiler alert.) Allow us to elaborate. We left the viewing of said short having gleaned a lot of wisdom, which we shall now pass on to you:

1. Life-changing days rarely start out that way.
Brave Little Tailor 1
Usually you’re just going along, minding your p’s and q’s, sewing a jacket or a shirt or a piece of fabric and whistling yourself a little tune.

2. It’s good to celebrate accomplishments, no matter how big or small they seem.
Brave Little Tailor 2
Even something as small as successfully wielding two fly swatters at once is cause for a pat on the back and a beaming smile of pride.

3. Boastfulness can sometimes lead to trouble.
Brave Little Tailor 3
Play it cool, guys. Things turned out okay for Mickey, but this “I killed seven!” business could really have gone another way.

4. Life can be shocking.
Brave Little Tailor 4
But that doesn’t mean it’s bad. Just hang on!

5. Expect the unexpected.
Brave Little Tailor 5
A left turn here, a right turn there, a bump every which way. Life’s road is filled with these things, but sometimes they work in your favor. (Like when a pretty girl, err Mouse, suddenly enters the picture.)

6. A little support goes a long way.
Brave Little Tailor 6
Be grateful for the cheerleaders in your life; they help more than you think.

7. Everyone has doubts.
Brave Little Tailor 7
But have faith in yourself. Remember, you’re capable of more than you know.

8. You already have the tools you need to succeed.
Brave Little Tailor 8
It’s just a matter of applying them.

9. Stand your ground.
Brave Little Tailor 9
Even if sometimes you’d rather retreat.

10. Get crafty.
Brave Little Tailor 10
There’s more than one way to deal with a (proverbial) giant.
