Eight Things Not to Miss in Disney Animated

There’s a lot to love in Disney Animated, the new iPad app that just launched today. It’s basically the story of Walt Disney Animation Studios, told through the iPad. Clearly our obsession is all-consuming and we’ve cancelled all our meetings for the day. (We’d cancel them for the rest of the week, but it’s almost time for the D23 Expo!)

Here are the eight things we think you shouldn’t miss in Disney Animated:
This Lady and the Tramp GIF (made from amazing hand-drawn animation)

Seeing a GIF of one of our favorite scenes? Great. Seeing that GIF made from animation drawings? Greater.

The Color Maps

The Lion King Color Map
You can see every scene from every Walt Disney Animation Studios feature film. That’s 75 years of animation in one single screen. That’s nuts.

Elsa’s Snow
Disney Animation Frozen

You can actually animate the snow with an interactive element based on the real algorithm they’re using in Frozen. (Pro tip: Shake your iPad side-to-side after you’ve done your animation. Something exciting may or may not happen.)

The Vanellope Workshop
Disney Animation Wreck-It Ralph

You can make your own animation sequences. Bonus points to anyone who can successfully choreograph a dance number. We tried and failed. (But we haven’t given up!)

The Maximus Mood Shifter

He’s a many mood-ed being, and you can manipulate said moods. Heart you, Maximus.

This Timeline

When you click the movies, cool things happen. Like trailers and concept art and clips from characters you love.

This Beauty and the Beast Background

You can eliminate and add layers of the background to see how one of the most incredible opening sequences (in our humble opinions) came together.

This one reminds us never to forget that it all started with a Mouse.
