Today at the D23 Expo, the best of the best competed in the Heroes and Villains à la Mode Costume Contest. Five awards were up for grabs: best original design, best recreation, best craftsmanship, best young fan, and best in show. Here are the winners:
Best Original Design – Antagonista
Best Re-creation – Merida
Best Craftsmanship – Prince Edward and Giselle
One of the judges was actually a costume designer on Enchanted, so extra props to these two.
Best Young Fan – The Rocketeer
Best in Show – Queen Amidala
Here are a few of our honorable mentions:
Queen Minnie told a funny story about her cat swallowing a needle while she was making a mouse costume. Comedy.
Amazing Jack Skellington puppet is amazing.
Fashion Ariel.
Hatbox. Ghost.
This guy was also an excellent actor.
Jedi Tinker Bell.
We love this Kevin costume and we love this human for thinking to make it.
Also, can we all take a moment to appreciate the amazingness of the Edna E. Mode trophy? We’ll start working on our costumes for the next D23 Expo tomorrow.
