Not all Christmas Carols were created equal. We are of the belief that The Muppet Christmas Carol is just the most jolly, magical, delightful, cheery, muppety adaptation of them all. That’s just common knowledge. What isn’t so widely known are these fun facts about the movie!
The buildings in this overhead shot were models.
They’re only three feet tall!
Paul Williams, who wrote the music for the movie, also wrote the music for The Muppet Movie.
And Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas! What a guy.
When the movie was first tested for audiences this was the kids’ favorite part:
“Please sir, I want some cheese.” Classic.
After this moment, Muppet fans couldn’t get enough rats:
“Heat wave! This is my island in the sun!”
Scooter was originally supposed to play the ghost of Christmas past.
That’s quite a recast.
Gonzo was supposed to be the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.
But the script changed and he got to play Charles Dickens instead. We approve.
Most of the Muppets are left handed!
(Some of the Oh My Disney team is also left handed, so this is exciting news for us.)
In A Christmas Carol, there’s only one Marley: Jacob Marley.
We think two Marley’s are always better than one, as long as they’re played by Statler & Waldorf and have a top-notch musical number.
Speaking of our favorite curmudgeons, check out the name of this store:
What do you think they sell there?
Fozzie’s mom plays his character Fozziewig’s mom in the movie!
We can see the family resemblance.
Don’t these facts make you want to stop whatever you’re doing and watch the movie immediately? Us too. Let’s all watch it together. Separately, of course.
The Muppet Christmas Carol is now available on Blu-ray Combo Pack and Digital HD.
