Merida, Magical Books, and Famous Brits Coming to Sofia the First!

Even more royal things than usual are about to happen on Sofia the First. In “Sofia the First: The Secret Library” the first episode of special four-part story debuting Monday October 12 at 9 a.m. ET|PT on Disney Channel (7 p.m. ET|PT on Disney Junior), Sofia unlocks a secret world and becomes the storykeeper of magical books. So, basically, she gets our dream job. Along the way Sofia runs into Merida from Brave!

Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride) and Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) lend their voices to nefarious Prince Roderick and the Narrator, respectively. Yes and yes. Bonnie Hunt (The Bonnie Hunt Show) reprises her role as Sofia’s aunt, and Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) is back as Sofia’s flying horse, Minimus. We are now 100% into this star-studded cast and literary plot.

Today, Disney Publishing Worldwide is releasing a companion book, and an app will be available on October 8. Both of these set up the story so that we’re all ready when the show premieres. Excellent.

We’re saving the date now (and looking for a flying horse because we’d be lying if we said we weren’t jealous).
