Beyond planning your own costume, one of the best parts of Halloween is seeing what everyone else dresses up as. Thanks to Google Frightgeist, a super cool aggregating tool, you can see what the most popular costumes will be this year both locally and nationally. Spoiler alert: there will be a TON of Disney costumes and costumes from Disney-owned franchises. Check out which ones you can expect to see a lot of this year:
The entire world is psyched beyond belief for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and that will be readily apparent in the hordes of Star Wars costumes flooding the streets this weekend. The overall search for Star Wars ranked #2 on Google’s list at the time of writing this article, with searches for specific characters like Leia (#20), Stormtroopers (#23), Darth Vader (#32), Ewoks (#57), Yoda (#76), Jedis (#79), Chewbacca (#78), Han Solo (#90), and Luke Skywalker (#95) rounding it out.
The Avengers will indeed assemble this weekend. Included on the list of the top 100 costumes are Captain America (#44), Hulk (#69), Iron Man (#77), and Black Widow (#78).
Mickey & Minnie
What Disney fan hasn’t dressed as one of these two at least once in their Halloween-loving lives? Minnie came in strong at #6, and Mickey was close behind in #21.
It’s good to be bad, and it looks like you all recognize that. Watch out for devious trick-or-treaters dressed as Maleficent (#16), the Queen of Hearts (#58), and Cruella de Vil (#75).
Two years after Frozen took the world by ice storm, y’all are still rocking costumes from it like there’s no tomorrow. Elsa continues her reign by holding the #22 slot, followed by Olaf at #65 and Anna at #66.
Residents of Never Land, you’ll be in good company. Tinker Bell is #28, and close behind is Peter Pan at #59.
It wouldn’t be Halloween if there weren’t a bunch of fierce Disney ladies running around collecting candy. In the top 100 most popular costumes this year, you’ll see Jasmine (#42), Pocahontas (#55), Ariel (#62), and Belle (#71).
Other Disney Faves
We’re all mad here, but a bunch of you will be especially mad this weekend: The Mad Hatter came in at #38. Also on the list is Monsters, Inc. (#70), so we look forward to calling a bunch of you “kitty” in a few days.
Are you dressing up as any of the Disney characters on this list? Tell us in the comments!
