The International Animated Film Society announced nominations today for its 43rd Annual Annie Awards, recognizing the year’s best in the field of animation—and Disney•Pixar and Disney Television Animation received 25 and 21 nominations, respectively! Inside Out led the feature film charge with 14 nominations, and The Good Dinosaur followed close behind with 10 nominations. (It was also announced today that Inside Out is the National Board of Review’s Best Animated Feature and on its top films list for 2015.) Both films were nominated for the prestigious Best Feature award. Disney•Pixar also represented in the Short Subject category, with a nomination for “Sanjay’s Super Team,” the new short playing in theaters with The Good Dinosaur (which also happens to be one of our favorite shorts, ever).
Coming off a very strong year, Disney Television Animation got 21 nominations, with three separate shows—Gravity Falls, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, and Wander Over Yonder—scoring nominations for Best Animated Television Production for Children. Pickle and Peanut, Phineas and Ferb, Sheriff Callie’s Wild West, and Mickey Mouse shorts “Coned” and “¡Feliz Cumpleaños!” received nominations as well.
