Disney•Pixar’s delightful and insightful foray into the mind, Inside Out, has just won the Oscar for Best Animated Film! Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera accepted the award on behalf of the cast and crew.
In the acceptance speech, Pete touched on the emotional inspiration behind the film, and took a moment to speak to kids growing up, everywhere: “Anyone out there who is in junior high, high school, working it out, suffering, there are days you’re gonna feel sad. You’re gonna feel angry. You’re gonna feel scared. That’s nothing you can choose. But you can make stuff. Make films. Draw. Write. It’ll make a world of difference.”
And to make the Inside Out win even more special, Woody and Buzz from Toy Story, Disney•Pixar’s first animated feature, presented the award! Watch the moment here:
Congratulations to everyone involved! Our dominant emotion right now is joy, obviously.
