This Real Life Fox and the Hound Pair Are the Best of Friends

One of our favorite things about The Fox and the Hound is that it features a friendship between two unlikely animals: a fox (Todd), and a hound (Copper). Since seeing it play out in real life is enough to melt away your Monday blues, we knew we just had to share the story of Soul (a white fox), and Home Girl (a dog), who both live at Georgia’s A New Hope: Animal Sanctuary and Educational Center! Check out the adorable pair below.

When Soul didn’t quite fit in with the rest of the foxes at his sanctuary, the folks at A New Hope decided to introduce him to Home Girl (one of the dogs who lives at the sanctuary) through the fence. In seemingly no time at all, they became fast friends. According to the director of the sanctuary, Maxine Baird, “It was puppy love at first sight.”

Because Soul is “too friendly” to survive in the wild,  A New Hope plans to keep him for the remainder of his life. They have plans to pair him up with another fox friend in the future.
