19 Firsts You Didn’t Know About Shanghai Disneyland

The grand opening of the Shanghai Disney Resort is almost here (Only one more day!!!). We are so excited to see this brand new Park and resort, but what’s even more exciting are all the new things that are exclusive to Shanghai Disneyland. From a pirate-themed land to attractions in the castle, there are a lot of firsts at Shanghai and we can’t wait to explore them.

  1. The main entrance will be Mickey Avenue, the hometown of Mickey Mouse and friends.
  2. A Steamboat Mickey fountain will pay tribute to the 1928 animated short.
  3. You can have your name embroidered in either Chinese or English on Mickey Mouse ear hats.
  4. Gardens of Imagination is the first land inside a Disney Park designed as a garden, it’s also the first central plaza to include a lagoon.
  5. The carousel is themed (for the first time) as a Fantasia carousel.
  6. Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Fantasia Carousel will be the first in front of a Disney castle. Shanghai Dumbo
  7. The longest parade route of any Disney theme park, which runs from Tomorrowland, around the Gardens of Imagination and through Fantasyland.

  9. The Roaring Mountain attrraction, including a new mysterious, legendary creature.
  10. The Soaring Over the Horizon attraction takes travelers on a voyage over iconic landmarks including the Great Wall of China.

  11. The Enchanted Storybook Castle is the tallest, largest, and most interactive castle at any Disney Park. It also is the first to incorporate all Disney Princesses in its design.Castle, Shanghai Disneyland
  12. Inside the castle, the “Once Upon a Time” Adventure gives guest an interactive experience with the story of Snow White.
  13. Voyage to the Crystal Grotto is the first attraction to take guests to through the base of the castle.
  14. The Alice in Wonderland Maze is the first attraction to feature Tim Burton’s live-action tale of the story.
  15. The Seven Dwarfs will sing “Heigh-Ho” in Mandarin on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
  16. Treasure Cove is the first pirate-themed land.
  17. “Eye of the Storm: Captain Jack’s Stunt Spectacular” including sword fighting, visual effects, and a grand finale.

  19. The Lion King broadway show will be performed in Mandarin at the Walt Disney Grand Theatre in Disneytown.
