If you’ve seen Finding Dory (and by this point you probably have), then you’ve heard Bill Hader, the former Saturday Night Live cast member who has become a nearly-permanent fixture in all Disney•Pixar films (he was in Monsters University and played Fear in last year’s Oscar-winning Inside Out). In Finding Dory he plays a fish who early in the film encounters baby Dory in her search for her missing parents. But Finding Dory isn’t the only summertime Disney movie you’ll be able to hear Hader in–he’s also one of the giants in Steven Spielberg’s The BFG (out in 3D on July 1). And we’ve got an exclusive featurette to share, where Hader shares his experience of going from a normal human being to a towering giant.
In this featurette you’ll hear Hader talk about his transformation in the film, from charming actor (fun fact: he also contributed to the vocalization of BB-8 in Star Wars: The Force Awakens), to an odious giant called The Bloodbottler. Instead of just voicing the character, he also performed it using cutting-edge performance capture technology. When you go see the film, keep your eyes peeled for Hader’s character, who he says has had his neck broken a few too many times.
Chances are if you loved Finding Dory, you’ll be similarly enchanted by the magical worlds on display in Steven Spielberg’s The BFG. But instead of going under the sea, you’ll be transported to the fearsome world of Giant Country.
The BFG opens in 3D on July 1.
