It’s that time of year again, everybody. San Diego Comic-Con is officially here, and we’re excited because there are a ton of Disney goodness going down. So whether you’ll be attending the show, or sitting at home awaiting updates, we’ve got a detailed rundown of every Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars panel happening at SDCC 2016.
The Dynamic World of Disney Comics
Thursday July 21, 2016 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Room 28DE
If you couldn’t already tell by the name, this panel covers all things Disney Comics. Daron Nefcy (Creator and Executive Producer, Star vs. the Forces of Evil), Gianfranco Cordara (Vice President, Global Magazines & New IP, Disney Publishing Worldwide), Roberto Santillo (Director, Art Development & Academia Disney), Mike Siglain (Creative Director, Lucasfilm Publishing), and more will share new comics based on Zootopia, Finding Dory, Frozen, Star Wars, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and more.

Ron Clements (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Treasure Planet, The Princess and the Frog), John Musker (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Treasure Planet, The Princess and the Frog), and several of the artists behind Moana will be giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Disney animated film—which is due out November 23, 2016.
Comics and Animation Storyboards

Our own Drew Taylor will be moderating this panel which features special guests like: Lissa Treiman (Giant Day, Zootopia, Big Hero 6, Wreck-It Ralph, Tangled), Natalie Nourigat (Deadpool #250, A Boy & A Girl), Bob Scott (Molly and the Bear, Peanuts, U.S. Acres, The Incredibles, Monsters, Inc.), Jeff Ranjo (Where Is Dead Zero?, Dark Horse Presents, Moana), Brian Kesinger (Groot, Otto and Victoria, Lil Kylo, Moana, Zootopia), and Manu Arenas (Yaxin the Faun, Moana, Zootopia, The Gruffalo). The panel will discuss the two mediums, and their connection to each other.

Star Wars The Science Awakens

So if you’ve ever wondered whether lightsabers are a possibility in the future or which droid NASA would select for a real mission, this panel is for you. Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis recently teamed up with Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior) to debut a 1980’s-set horror show called Dead of Summer. The showrunners will be on a panel along with cast members Elizabeth Mitchell (The Purge: Election Year), Zelda Williams (Teen Wolf) and Eli Goree (The 100) as they discuss the new series of “haunting secrets, self-discovery and supernatural lore.”

Beauty and the Beast: 25th Anniversary

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the beloved animated Disney film, Beauty and the Beast. With the live-action reimagining of the film (starring Emma Watson as Belle) due out next year, attending this panel is the perfect way to celebrate.

This panel, which will be hosted by Cort Lane (SVP, Animation and Family Entertainment), Eric Randomski (SVP, Production and Creative Director, Marvel Animation), and Stephen Wacker (VP, Current Series & Development, Marvel Animation) will touch on several of Marvel’s series including: Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man vs. The Sinister Six, Marvel’s Avengers: Ultron Revolution, and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and will give fans an exclusive sneak peek at upcoming episodes and more info on new projects in development. One of the most popular panels will surely be the one from Marvel Studios. Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige will be joined by special guests, as they give us an inside look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
