Lin-Manuel Miranda Took Over Disney Animation Instagram and We Have So Many Emotions

Today, a wonderful thing happened. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony Award winner, creator of Hamilton: An American Musical, and composer for Moana, took over the Disney Animation Instagram account in what will forever be known as #Linstagram. By doing this, Lin-Manuel Miranda made our day. Nay, he made our life. In true Lin-Manuel form, this was no ordinary Instagram takeover. To our absolute delight, Lin decided to take Disney song requests on Twitter, and then proceeded to sing them, along with some other Disney tunes of his choosing, for the world to see. We laughed. We cried. We watched every video on repeat. Let’s take a journey into what is quite possibly the greatest Instagram takeover of all time:

Lin started it all off strong with a picture of his dog, Tobillo:

Of course Lin has an amazing and adorable dog. We’re already all about this Instagram takeover and it hasn’t even begun.

Then he posted an amazing picture of himself. In the caption, he realized there was no character limit on Instagram. So he proceeded to quote “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from Mary Poppins, which is perfect as he is set to star in the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns.

We love being a part of history as Lin discovers Instagram.

Then he posted a picture of himself with a tiny coffee.

Just because. And we love it.

Here he is with John Musker and Ron Clements, who directed MoanaThe Little Mermaid, and so many more Disney classics:

Lin references The Little Mermaid as the reason why he wanted to spend his life making music. So, thank you, Ron and John, for inspiring Lin to follow his dreams, because he inspires us all. As Lin said in the caption, dreams come true.

Lin even took the time to do a shoutout to his son’s favorite Disney Jr. show, Chuggington.  Adorable. Then he took a picture of the composers of Mary Poppins Returns.

Then Lin did something so wonderful, we couldn’t contain our tears of joy. Lin started singing Disney songs at the top of his lungs. A lot of them. He even reached out on his Twitter account to ask for requests.

Here he is singing “One Jump Ahead (Reprise)” from Aladdin:

This is everything we’ve ever wanted to see in an Instagram post. But wait, there’s more.

Then he sang “Santa Fe” from Newsies:

And we lost our minds. Also the lighting is really amazing in this post.

Then he sang “Be a Man” from Mulan:

And we started to wonder what we did to be so lucky to view these Instagram gems. The character voices are strong, and so is our love for Lin-Manuel.

Next up, he sang “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid, accompanied by none other than Moana herself, Auli’i Carvalho:

We seriously didn’t know what to do with ourselves after this. So we cried and laughed and clapped. Could this get any better? Oh, wait, it could because:

Lin sang “Gaston” from Beauty and the Beast with The Rock, who voices Maui in Moana.

This is the greatest thing that has ever happened.

Think he was done there? No, he wasn’t done there because he’s Lin-Manuel Miranda and he is extraordinary. Here he is owning a verse of “Daughters of Triton” from The Little Mermaid:

We knew at this point that this was the best day of our lives.

Here he is doing a Beauty and the Beast and Hunchback of Notre Dame mashup:

Knowing a good throwback tune was in order, Lin took it old school and sang the Rescue Rangers theme song:

The commitment here is absolutely phenomenal. Obviously, we sang along.

After taking some adorable photos of the cast and crew, Lin ended his magical Disney Animation Instagram takeover with a special song from Moana, joined by John Musker, Ron Clements, The Rock, and Auli’i Carvalho.

We love them all so much.

It’s safe to say that Lin-Manuel Miranda’s takeover of the Disney Animation Instagram was all at once epic, inspiring, and the best thing that could have happened on the Internet today, and perhaps ever. We absolutely cannot wait to see Lin’s music come to life in Moana in November. We will always remember the day that #Linstagram made the world a better place.
