Every year around this time, at Disneyland in California, the Haunted Mansion, which first opened in 1969, gets a holly jolly makeover as characters and scenarios from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas join forces with your Haunted Mansion favorites. The resulting culmination, known as Haunted Mansion Holiday (which returns on September 9), is a favorite that lasts from Halloween all the way through Christmas, with new surprises and embellishments added each year. And even if you can’t get to Disneyland to experience Haunted Mansion Holiday, chances are you fire up your home video copy for Halloween and Christmas–The Nightmare Before Christmas is perfect for both.
All of this makes the news that this year Disney Store is releasing limited-edition tees and prints depicting Nightmare Before Christmas characters in the classic “stretch paintings” from The Haunted Mansion, almost too much to handle. And what’s more–you can order the limited-edition prints (in two different formats) and the tees before anybody else (and with the tees, it’s buy one, get one 40% off). We also spoke with Meredith Gaiser, E-Commerce Marketing Manager, about creating these wonderful tees.
Gaiser said that the team “wanted to do something special for fans of both The Nightmare Before Christmas and Haunted Mansion by creating a unique design celebrating both franchises,” and were inspired by the “fall overlay done every year” with the Haunted Mansion Holiday. (Darren Wilson, a Disney Design Group artist, designed the art featured on the tees and prints.) And with lavish Halloween celebrations at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, Gaiser hopes that fans wear the new tees to those events. “We love seeing our guests in new product and especially in t-shirts created especially for the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort,” Gaiser said. “And with this sale you can get one for you and one or more for a friend, if you want to plan a group theme.”
