Ever a Surprise: Angela Lansbury Completely Nails the Beauty and the Beast Theme for the 25th Anniversary

The Disney tale of Beauty and the Beast might be as old as time (okay, maybe it’s only 25), but the film’s Academy Award-winning theme still gets us every single time we hear it. Over the weekend, we witnessed the magic all over again when Angela Lansbury (the voice of Mrs. Potts) sang the song live, accompanied by the film’s composer Alan Menken on the piano, at a special 25th anniversary screening at the Lincoln Center. Prepare to feel all of the emotions when you watch the video below:

It’s absolutely mesmerizing to see Angela Lansbury completely nail every single note in the song. We felt a wave of nostalgia when she ended the song with the Mrs. Potts line, “Run along and get in the cupboard Chip.” We can’t stop grinning. If you need us, we’ll be playing the song on repeat for the rest of the day.

Beauty and the Beast’s 25th Anniversary Edition is now available on Digital HDDisney Movies Anywhere, and Blu-ray.
