Anyone that visits Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea comes back raving about how hugely immersive and undeniably unique the experience is. These are definitely Disney Parks that are always changing, evolving, and adding additional attractions and experiences for the guest. Earlier this year, Big Hero 6 and Beauty and the Beast-inspired attractions were announced, and today more specifics were revealed, including details about how characters from Zootopia, Frozen, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Finding Dory will be making their way to the Japanese Disney Parks.
First off, in the spring of 2017, Disney’s Easter will be celebrated at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. A new Easter-themed parade will feature the Tokyo Disneyland debut of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from Disney’s smash Zootopia. At Tokyo DisneySea, the entire Park will be festooned with “colorful springtime decorations.” Park guests will “find décor themed to these bonnets in addition to Easter eggs.” So, yes, the photo opportunities will be seemingly endless, especially since Mickey Mouse and his Disney friends will also be dressed in their Easter finery.
Also in the spring, a new attraction will open in the Port Discovery area of Tokyo DisneySea. This is Nemo & Friends SeaRider, an attraction that will “immerse guests in the underwater world of these popular stories by using a ride system that seamlessly blends glorious new visuals with a dynamic motion-base system.” The storyline for the attraction sees guests boarding a submersible that “shrinks” to the size of a fish. Also opening in the spring of 2017 at Tokyo DisneySea is the “renewed” Turtle Talk, where Dory and Squirt join Crush while additional characters like Destiny the whale shark and Hank the octopus will stop by. Nemo & Friends SeaRider sounds incredible and the updated Turtle Talk, which has already hit the domestic Disney Parks, is a hoot that Tokyo DisneySea guests will surely adore as much as we do.
Next summer a “Special Event at Tokyo DisneySea” will debut that’s themed to the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, and timed to the release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. At this special event, located at Mediterranean Harbor, “guests can enjoy the show on the harbor featuring Captain Jack Sparrow, pirates, and tons of splashing water, as well as atmosphere entertainment presented by a crew of pirates.” There will also be special merchandise, menu items, and decorations inspired by the special event that will “transform the Park into the world of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean.” Special Pirates of the Caribbean-themed décor and atmospheric entertainment will also be featured in Tokyo Disneyland.
And coming on July 11, 2017, is a renewed version of the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights. Appearing for the first time in this spectacular nighttime parade will be “an icy castle float with Anna and Elsa from Frozen.” Cinderella will be represented with a pair of new floats: one will have Cinderella’s pumpkin coach, and the other will showcase the grand ballroom with Prince Charming. Additionally, a “float based on Beauty and the Beast will return after being absent since the 2011 renovation of the parade.” This new version of the parade will be enhanced with LED lighting and will “add even more color to the Park at night.”
