Any day we get to hear a new Disney song is definitely a great day. And when that song happens to be written by Lin-Manuel Miranda for Walt Disney Animation Studio’s upcoming film, Moana, it’s a really, really, really great day.
The song, “How Far I’ll Go,” is the kind of power ballad you’ll be singing in the car, shower, or pretty much anywhere. Sung by Auli’i Carvalho, who voices Moana in the film, and by Alessia Cara during the credits, the song explores Moana’s longing to venture out beyond her island and her quest to become a master wayfinder. You can listen to Alessia Cara’s version now and be reminded that Lin-Manuel Miranda is a lyrical genius and that this film is going to be the best.
Yes, we know. It. Is. So. Good. You can listen to both versions of the song, plus six more original songs when the soundtrack comes out on November 18. You can pre-order it now on Amazon or iTunes and wait ever so patiently for it to arrive. Moana sails into the theaters November 23.
