Earlier this week, we got a sneak peek of the amazing song “You’re Welcome” from the upcoming Disney animated feature Moana. The song is performed by Maui (played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) and was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and we’ve been humming it all week. Now to further delight us, we have been treated to an inside look at the recording of “You’re Welcome” with an amazing video The Rock posted on his Instagram account. We have been watching the video on repeat ever since. Get ready to sing along and take a look:
Not only does this video have us singing along, but it also has us dancing. We absolutely love seeing The Rock and Lin-Manuel work together, and their excitement and passion for the music is contagious! One of our favorite parts is when The Rock is trying out his rap verse and Lin-Manuel is dancing outside of the booth. It’s amazing and inspiring and everything. We also love that when asked how he wrote the song, Lin-Manuel said, “I knew I was writing a song for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson so I just thought, ‘What would be like the most fun thing to hear The Rock sing?’ and it’s: you’re welcome.” The Rock chimed in with, “When Maui sings, the room stops.” We can absolutely agree with this.
Thank you to The Rock and Lin-Manuel Miranda for making our day with this amazing video, and for furthering our obsession with all things Moana. We will be singing “You’re Welcome” at the top of our lungs in our daily lives until further notice.
