After several week of casting updates, A Wrinkle in Time is set to kick off tomorrow. The star-studded cast of the new film is fleshed out with actors like Oprah Winfrey (Mrs. Which), Reese Witherspoon (Mrs. Whatsit), Mindy Kaling (Mrs. Who) Chris Pine (Mr. Murry), and newcomer Storm Reid (Meg), and so much more. The film, helmed by Ava DuVernay, is a reimagining of Madeleine L’Engle’s novel by the same name.
The cast is rounded out by Zach Galifinakis (The Happy Medium), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Mrs. Murry), André Holland (Principal Jenkins), Levi Miller (Calvin), Deric McCabe (Charles Wallace). Bellamy Young, Rowan Blanchard and Will McCormack are also onboard for yet-to-be-revealed roles.
“Since Day One, this experience has shimmered with the promise and possibility, the passion and power that only great stories offer,” said DuVernay. “And Madeline L’Engle’s book is a great story indeed. A cool, quirky tale of an imperfect girl on an otherworldly expedition that has been praised and banned, dissected and celebrated the world over for more than 50 years. On behalf of all the filmmakers, artists and craftspeople in our ‘Wrinkle in Time’ family, we are genuinely thrilled by and truly grateful for the opportunity to make this film together.”
A Wrinkle in Time follows the story of Meg Murry, her brother Charles Wallace, and friend Calvin on an exciting trip into alternate dimensions to bring home her father.
