There were a lot of fears and tears this week on The Bachelor. Nick Viall was afraid he wouldn’t find love. The women were afraid that Nick was afraid he wouldn’t find love. Corinne was especially afraid of being sent home. And Kristina was afraid of the sharks … (Cue the Jaws theme.)
After skipping the rose ceremony following Nick’s emotional confession to the remaining six women last week, the anxious group headed to the beaches of Bimini in the Bahamas. Vanessa, Danielle M., and Rachel had their second one- on-one dates with the bachelor. Raven, Kristina, and Corinne had a three-on-one. Overall there was a lot of yacht-sailing, snorkeling, kissing, confessions of falling in love, insecurities, and one sneaky hotel visit. Oh, and sharks!
Danielle M. was sent home after Nick couldn’t reciprocate her feelings for him during their date, which lacked natural, flowing conversation. Then in a tearful goodbye, Kristina was let go before the rose ceremony – which was surprising after all the attention Nick seemed to give her on their date.
So that leaves four: Raven, Corinne, Rachel, and Vanessa. Raven got the only rose this week, so she’ll get a hometown date for sure. And as long as there aren’t any major surprises from this season’s very unpredictable bachelor, it looks like these remaining women are … the Final Four! Here’s how they did:
Raven, 25, fashion boutique owner, Hoxie, AR
Hoxie, Arkansas, here we come! Raven is the first and only woman so far to receive a rose officially guaranteeing her a hometown visit next week. Raven managed to outshine both Corinne and Kristina on their three-on-one date with Nick. Perhaps it was her no-fear attitude while swimming in shark-infested waters? (She was ready to punch one in the face, if necessary.) Or maybe it’s her even temperament and her unwavering confidence in herself that is winning Nick over? Whatever the reason, she’s a sweetheart who has captured Nick’s heart, and we can’t wait to see their date next week!
Vanessa, 29, special education teacher, Montreal, Quebec, Canada
After feeling jealous of Vanessa’s second one-on-one date with Nick, Corinne doubted Vanessa’s depth. But Vanessa dived deep into the ocean and had some deep conversations with bachelor Nick this week. After a day of kissing-while- snorkeling around an abandoned ship, Vanessa confessed she was falling in love with him. She didn’t quite get the response she was hoping for, but it was still a successful date. She experienced her first time on a yacht, her first time snorkeling, and hopefully she’ll be the first and only to hear Nick say, “I’m falling in love with you, too!”
Corinne, 24, business owner, Miami, FL
Corinne felt frustrated and bloated in anticipation of a potential one-on-one date, which she’s never had with Nick. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t get one. Instead, the self-proclaimed Queen of Group Dates had to settle for sailing on a yacht and swimming with sharks on a three-on-one date. Raven said Corinne was the most likely to be eaten by a shark. Thankfully, that didn’t happen. But Corinne did eat her feelings (and lots of cheese) while feeling super self- conscious and worried about the lack of attention she was getting from the bachelor. She said she felt like the third wheel, which is never fun. But being the fighter she is, she boldly went to Nick’s hotel room unannounced to try to “lock in Corinne”. Her surprise visit didn’t go as planned, but it still looks like she’ll get the hometown date she’s been hoping for.
Rachel, 31, attorney, Dallas, TX
Rachel got the third and last one-on-one before the hometown dates, and we think this First Impression Rose winner once again made a strong and successful impression on the bachelor. They had an easy, flirtatious date at a Bimini bar where the wise bartender advised that the bachelor should need Rachel, not just want her. She was beaming after their time together, and we feel confident she’ll be introducing Nick to Mr. Lindsay (her father, the judge) and the rest of her family in Dallas next week.
*We don’t know if Nick will propose to Rachel or not, but we do know that she’s going to be the next bachelorette! The official announcement was made last night on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live with Bachelor host Chris Harrison and Rachel Lindsay herself! She will be the first African American woman to lead The Bachelorette, and we are SO EXCITED! Congratulations, Rachel!
Unless something dramatic happens next week to shake things up, it looks like our two remaining final four picks, Vanessa and Corinne, will be taking Nick home to meet their families. We can’t wait to see how those hometown dates go! Now our next question: Who will make it to the Fantasy Suite? What do you think?
If you think you can predict who will be offered a rose and who’ll be sent packing, play in our The Bachelor Fantasy League! As you make predictions each week, we’ll be tracking how well the contestants are faring on their ultimate quest to be offered the final rose and, hopefully, an engagement ring.
