Today’s Disney Parks panel at Star Wars Celebration did not disappoint, bringing us new renderings and teasing what we can expect from Star Wars-themed Lands, which will open in Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2019.
According to Disney Parks Blog, “The team shared exciting new details about the story behind this mysterious destination somewhere on the Outer Rim—lying on the edge of the Unknown Regions. The remote village was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but the prominence of the outpost has been bypassed with the rise of hyperspace travel. Now home to those who prefer less attention, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space. It’s also a convenient safe-haven for others intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order.”
The panel brought Imagineers and Lucasfilm creatives together to highlight the highly-anticipated collaboration:
“I don’t think anyone can imagine the level of love and the level of thoughtfulness that has gone into this” said Kiri Hart, SVP Development at Lucasfilm Story Group, “And I think people are gonna be so amazed, it’s gonna feel so real. I think it’s gonna be incredible.”
